Project Junkie Contributors
I created The Project Junkie website because a lot of the information I wanted for my projects was scattered all over the Internet. It was hard to find detailed information on how to do certain things. Therefore I decided that I would document my projects ("in greater detail") with hopes of saving others the hassle of having to do so much research.
Together we attract more attention.
I eventually want to open this site up to anyone that wants to document a project here. Currently the site's interface is not set up to handle easy article/tutorial submissions but it is something that I want to get too eventually. Currently, I am considering accepting a few Project Junkies to post here (mostly friends that I can show how to use the UI). If you are interested in posting a project here let me know. Compensation
Currently, at this time there is no compensation model from advertising or anything else on this site. However this is something I'd like to implement in the future. I'm currently working on a model that would fairly compensate contributors for their tutorials. Compensation is still a ways off because there is a lot that would need to happen on the back-end of the site for it to work properly. Since I am not a programmer I cannot write the code myself and hiring someone to do it for me would require more money than I want to devote to it right now.
What The Project Junkie Will Not Become!
I hate eHow, About, Enzine Articles, Etc because more often than not the article you go to doesn't really tell you anything (Not every article but most)- Here is an example of how I feel when I go to these sites for information.
Building a Boat
- Draw your plans
- Go to the hardware store and get some plywood, screws, and waterproof paint
- Cut out your boat
- Build your boat with the plywood and screws
- Paint your boat with waterproof paint
- Test your boat
- If your boat is leaking use more paint.
- There wasn't that easy!
Yeah, No Kidding!
Article submission sites usually make their money off the advertising and then they split the revenue with there article contributors/submitters. The more articles they get the more exposure they get because Google and other search engines give more weight to sites with more content. Articles are usually written by people with a sub-par knowledge of what they are writing about but do have a good knowledge of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) something that helps rank them higher in search results. Anyway, I'm not trying to go on a rant here but I don't want this site to become just another "article submission site." I want this to be a "Project Tutorial Site" that has detailed information with accompanying pictures and preferably videos as well.
